Adult orthodontics in Clermont
Invisalign, clear braces, metal braces and braces behind the teeth for adults, from Dr. Robert Ogden, who has practiced orthodontics in Clermont since 1994.
Maybe you had braces as a teenager, lost track of the retainer, and watched your bottom teeth crowd back in. Maybe you never had them at all. Or you have meant to do this for years while the kids, work and money came first.
Plenty of Clermont parents finally start their own treatment after watching their kids finish. You wouldn't be the only adult in the chair, either. About one in five orthodontic patients is an adult.
Dr. Ogden treats adults at our Clermont office on Citrus Tower Boulevard. He'll show you which options fit your teeth, how long each would take and what it costs, so you can get to the point where you smile in photos without thinking about it.

No. Healthy teeth move at almost any age, and healthy gums and bone matter more than your birthday. Mechanically, braces work the same at forty as they do at fourteen.
Two things are different. Adult bone remodels more slowly, so treatment can sometimes run a bit longer than it would for a teenager. And your jaw has finished growing.
Most crowding, gaps and bite problems can still be corrected with braces or Invisalign. A few bite problems come from the size or position of the jaw itself and are harder to fully fix by moving teeth. Dr. Ogden will tell you at your first visit if yours is one of them.

Common reasons adults come in:
Teeth that shifted after teen braces can usually be corrected, often with Invisalign Touch-Up at $2,495 in under six months when the shift is small.
If you stopped wearing your retainer, the lower front teeth are usually the first to crowd back in. When the crowding or bite has changed more, Invisalign Comprehensive or braces may be the better fix.
Either way, you finish with retainers, and wearing them is what keeps your teeth where they are.
Invisalign is the removable option that is hardest to spot, while braces work around the clock without you thinking about them. At our Clermont office, adult braces are $4,550 and Invisalign is $2,495 to $4,895.
Invisalign straightens your teeth with a series of clear aligners, each worn for a set stretch before you move to the next. You take them out to eat and to drink anything but water, then brush and put them back in.
They only work when you wear them, so plan on 20 to 22 hours a day. Comprehensive treatment usually runs longer than twelve months and includes three refinements, which are extra rounds of aligners to fine-tune the result. Touch-Up is for small movements and generally takes under six months.

Braces are fixed to your teeth, so they keep working whether you remember them or not. Clear ceramic brackets blend in with your teeth, and they cost the same as metal at our office.

We offer self-ligating brackets. Many patients get their brackets placed with indirect bonding, which means the placement is planned on a model of your teeth first.
Most braces cases run 18 to 24 months, and adjustment visits are usually every 6 to 8 weeks. See what is included on our braces in Clermont page.
With lingual braces, the brackets are bonded to the back of your teeth, so nobody sees them when you talk or smile. We use InSmile, a lingual system with a custom wire shaped for your teeth.
Expect a sore tongue and a slight lisp for the first few days to weeks. Lingual braces aren't right for every bite, and very deep bites can knock the brackets loose more often, so Dr. Ogden checks yours first.

One-minute quiz
Answer four questions to see which option usually fits adults with answers like yours.
1. What bothers you most about your teeth?
2. How do you feel about people seeing your treatment?
3. Could you wear aligners 20 to 22 hours a day, taking them out only to eat and brush?
4. Do you have crowns, bridges, implants or missing teeth?
Pick one answer in each of the four questions above.
This quiz is a starting point, not a diagnosis. Dr. Ogden checks your bite at the free exam and tells you which options fit your teeth.
Invisalign Touch-Up
Your teeth shifted a little since braces and you can wear aligners 20 to 22 hours a day. Touch-Up is $2,495 and generally takes under six months.
Invisalign Comprehensive
You have crowding, gaps or a bite concern, or you're not sure, and you can wear aligners 20 to 22 hours a day. Comprehensive is $4,895 and includes three refinements.
Clear ceramic braces
You'd rather your treatment be hard to notice but you don't want to keep track of aligners. Clear braces are $4,550, the same as metal.
Lingual braces
You don't want anyone to see your treatment at all and you'd rather not wear aligners. Lingual braces are priced in writing at your consultation.
Metal braces
Visibility doesn't bother you and you'd rather not wear aligners. They cost the same as clear, $4,550.
Invisalign only works when you wear it 20 to 22 hours a day, so braces may suit your routine better. Dr. Ogden can go over both at your free exam.
Bring your dental work to the consultation. Crowns, bridges, implants and missing teeth don't automatically rule anything out, but Dr. Ogden plans around them.

Adult treatment at Ogden Orthodontics in Clermont runs $2,495 to $4,895 for Invisalign and $4,550 for braces, metal or clear. Lingual braces are priced at your consultation. Prices are the same at all three of our offices.
You get your exact price in writing at your free consultation, and you won't pay for X-rays before you have a quote.
For braces, the fee covers your exam, scan and records, every scheduled adjustment, repairs for broken brackets or poking wires, and one set of retainers when your braces come off. If treatment runs longer than planned, the fee doesn't change.
Invisalign Comprehensive includes three refinements. Additional refinements are $500 each. Replacement retainers start at $225.
In-house financing is 0% interest. Braces at $4,550 with $300 down over 24 months comes to about $177 a month, and your payment may be lower with an orthodontic insurance benefit.
Cherry payment plans and military discounts are also available. Orthodontic treatment, including braces and Invisalign, is generally eligible for HSA and FSA funds.
Many dental plans include an orthodontic benefit written as a lifetime maximum, often somewhere between $1,000 and $3,000. Adult coverage is often different from coverage for children on the same plan, and some plans cover children only.
We check your benefit before treatment starts and file the claim for you. Plans we work with include Delta Dental, DeltaCare USA, Cigna, MetLife, United Healthcare, Ameritas and The Standard.
Adult orthodontics moves teeth the same way teen treatment does, but healthy gums and bone come first, and your dentist is often part of the plan.
Teeth can only move safely through healthy gums and bone. Dr. Ogden checks both at your exam. If your gums need care first, your dentist or a periodontist treats that before treatment starts, and you keep up your regular cleanings while your teeth are moving.
Dental work doesn't automatically rule out braces or Invisalign, but it changes the plan. Teeth with crowns can usually still be moved. An implant is set in the bone and won't move, so Dr. Ogden plans the other teeth around it.
When a tooth is missing, straightening can open or close the space so your dentist can replace it well. If your dentist has suggested orthodontics before a crown or implant, bring that plan to your consultation and we will work from it.
Invisalign comes out for meals, including that work lunch. With braces, skip hard and sticky foods and keep a travel toothbrush in your bag.
Most visits take about 30 minutes. You don't need a referral from your dentist, and nobody asks you to decide in the chair.

No. There is no set age cutoff for braces or Invisalign. Healthy gums and bone matter more than age, and Dr. Ogden treats adults in their 40s, 50s and older at our Clermont office.
Metal or clear ceramic braces at Ogden Orthodontics in Clermont are $4,550, the same fee for both. Invisalign is $2,495 for Touch-Up and $4,895 for Comprehensive.
With 0% in-house financing, braces at $4,550 with $300 down over 24 months come to about $177 a month. Your payment may be lower with an orthodontic insurance benefit.
Not at our office. Invisalign Comprehensive is $4,895 and braces are $4,550. Invisalign Touch-Up is $2,495 and costs less than either, but it is only for small shifts.
Neither is better for everyone. Invisalign is hard to see and comes out for meals, but it only works if you wear it 20 to 22 hours a day. Braces work around the clock without you thinking about them. Dr. Ogden recommends what fits your bite and your routine.
Most braces cases run 18 to 24 months, and adult cases can sometimes run a bit longer because adult bone remodels more slowly. Invisalign Touch-Up generally takes under six months, and Comprehensive usually runs longer than twelve months.
Sometimes. Some dental plans limit orthodontic coverage to children, while others include adults, usually with a lifetime maximum. We check your benefit before you start and file the claim for you.
Generally, yes. HSA and FSA funds can usually be used for orthodontic treatment, including braces and Invisalign. Check your plan's rules, and use the written price from your consultation when you submit.
The main trade-offs are time, some soreness, and the work of wearing aligners 20 to 22 hours a day or brushing carefully around braces. Treatment can also run a bit longer for adults than for teens. Dr. Ogden goes over which ones apply to you.
Braces and aligners cause pressure and some soreness at any age. Expect a few tender days after braces go on and after adjustments, and some pressure with each new set of aligners. Soft foods help for the first day or two.
Skip the hardest and stickiest foods, such as hard candy, caramel and ice, and cut crunchy foods like apples into small pieces. With Invisalign, you take the aligners out to eat.
Braces on the front of your teeth rarely change how you talk. Invisalign can cause a slight lisp at first. Lingual braces sit behind the teeth and can take a few weeks for your tongue to adjust to.
Usually, yes. Teeth with crowns can typically still be moved, and Dr. Ogden plans around implants and bridges, which don't move. Bring details of your dental work to your consultation.
Yes. Braces or Invisalign can often open the space where a tooth is missing so your dentist can replace it with an implant or bridge, or close the space completely.
Your gums need to be healthy before your teeth move. If you have active gum disease, your dentist or periodontist treats it first, and Dr. Ogden can start once your gums are stable.
An orthodontist is a dentist with years of extra training in moving teeth and correcting bites, and Dr. Ogden completed his orthodontic residency at the University of Florida. Your dentist stays part of the team for cleanings, gum health and dental work, and you don't need a referral to book.
Yes. Teeth keep shifting throughout life, so a retainer holds your result. One set of retainers is included with braces, and replacement retainers start at $225.
